In the present case, the circumstantial evidence adduced by the prosecution showed that: a. while SP6 was drinking beer with the deceased at his house, a blue Proton Iswara arrived, and both the $ 1^{\mathrm{st}} $ and $ 2^{\mathrm{nd}} $ Appellants were identified to have come out from the car; b. the $ 1^{\mathrm{s t}} $ and $ 2^{\mathrm{n d}} $ Appellants were seen attacking the deceased from behind by using sharp weapons such as parang or knife; c. this is consistent with the evidence of the Consultant Pathologist, SP15, who confirmed that the deceased sustained injuries to the left shoulder, neck and back predominantly from sharp object or weapon; d. however, the deceased did not die from those injuries; e. according to SP15, the stab wound to the deceased's epigastrium from the front to the back, which penetrated the deceased's heart, was fatal in nature and had caused the deceased's death; f. there was no evidence to suggest that the fatal injury was inflicted before the relevant eyewitnesses; g. after being slashed from behind, the deceased ran towards the plantation. The Appellants were seen pursuing the deceased into the plantation while still holding the weapon; h. after a few minutes, the Appellants came out from the plantation and left in the same car that they arrived with; i. the deceased never came out from the plantation; j. SP6 then went to look for the deceased and shouted his name, but there was no answer, and he could not find the deceased; k. SP6 went to the police station and went back to the scene to look for the deceased, but to no avail since the area was dark; and I. The deceased was found the following morning by SP3 inside the plantation.
