Having considered the evidence and submissions of the Plaintiff and the Defendant, I am satisfied that the Plaintiff’s daily needs is adequately met with the engagement of a single caregiver, supported if necessary by family members. While expert testimony suggested the appointment of two caregivers, such an arrangement is found to be excessive in the circumstances. The Plaintiff presently resides with her grandparents, and in the future will be cared for directly by her parents. In situations where the caregiver requires assistance in lifting, turning, or bathing the Plaintiff, such tasks can reasonably be undertaken with the support of family members. Accordingly, the Court agrees with the Defendant that Embun is entitled to the engagement of a single maid at the rate of RM1,700.00 per month, applying a multiplier of 291 months, and therefore awards the sum of RM494,700.00 under this head of damages.
