Section 56

of JUVENILE COURTS ACT 1947

Section 56

Any child who escapes or is removed from a place of safety or place of refuge without lawful authority—

(a)

may be arrested without a warrant by any Protector or police officer and shall be brought back to the place of safety or place of refuge; and

(b)

shall be placed—

(i)

in the case of a place of safety, for such period which is equal to the unexpired residue of his stay under the order originally made by the Court For

Children; and

(ii)

in the case of a place of refuge, for such period which is equal to the period during which he was unlawfully at large and for the unexpired residue of his term of placement under the order originally made by the Court For Children.
