Section 58

of *SELF-EMPLOYMENT SOCIAL SECURITY ACT 2017

Section 58

(1)

The Minister shall, by notification in the Gazette, constitute a Social Security Tribunal for such State or area, as may be specified in the notification.

(2)

The Tribunal shall be presided by a Chairman appointed by the

Minister upon such terms and conditions as the Minister may determine.

(3)

A person is qualified for an appointment as a Chairman under subsection (2) if―

(a)

he is a citizen; and

(b)

for the ten years preceding his appointment, he has been―

(i)

a member of the judicial and legal service of the

Federation;

(ii)

an advocate and solicitor within the meaning of the

Legal Profession Act 1976 [Act 166];

(iii)

an advocate within the meaning of the Advocates

Ordinance of Sabah [Sabah Cap. 2]; or

(iv)

an advocate within the meaning of the Advocates

Ordinance of Sarawak [Sarawak Cap. 110].
