Section 58
(a)
he is a member of either House of Parliament, or of a
State Legislative Assembly, or of any local authority;
or
(b)
he holds any office in—
(i)
any trade union;
(ii)
any political party; or
(iii)
any other organization, body or group of persons whatsoever, whether or not it is established under any law, whether it is in Malaysia or outside
Malaysia, which has objectives or carries on activities which can be construed as being political in nature, character or effect.

If a member of the Majlis Peguam Syarie or any of its committees, becomes disqualified under subsection (1), he shall immediately be deemed to have vacated his membership and any office that he may hold.
