Section 4
(1)
There shall be established a committee to be known as the State Mineral
Resources Committee.
(2)
The Committee shall consist of the following members:
(a)
a Chairman, who shall be appointed by the Minister;
(b)
the Director, who shall be the Secretary;
(c)
the Director General of Mines or his authorised representative;
(d)
the Director General of Environmental Quality or his authorised representative;
(e)
the Director General of Geological Survey or his authorised representative;
(f)
the Director of Forestry or his authorised representative;
(g)
the Director of Environmental Conservation of the State or his authorised representative;
(h)
the Secretary of Natural Resources or his authorised representative;
and
(i)
three other members who shall be appointed by the Minister:
Provided that where the Minister appoints any person specified in paragraph (b), (c), (d), (e), (f) or.(g) as Chairman, he shall appoint five members under this paragraph.

(3)
A member appointed under paragraph (2)(a) or (2)(i) shall, unless he sooner resigns or his appointment has been revoked, hold office for a term of three years.
(4)
The appointment of members under paragraphs (2)(a) and (2)(h) shall be published in the Gazette.
(5)
The Minister may appoint any member as he thinks fit to exercise the functions of the Chairman during the period in which the Chairman is, for any reason, unable to exercise his functions, or during the period of any vacancy in the office of the
Chairman, and such member shall, during the period in which he is exercising the functions of the Chairman under this section, be deemed to be the Chairman.
