Section 18

(1)

The Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, declare any area as an environmental hazard zone if such an area is polluted and may cause significant risk to human health and safety or the environment.

(2)

When an area is declared as an environmental hazard zone, the Director may impose such restrictions on the use of the area as the Director deems necessary to reduce environmental hazard in the area and its surroundings.

(3)

The Minister may revoke any declaration in whole or in part in respect of any area so declared as an environmental hazard zone if the restrictions and precautions are no longer applicable to such area.
