Opening note
This Act comes into operation on a date to be appointed by the Minister by notification in the Gazette.
Amendment of section 2
The Poisons Act 1952 [Act 366], which is referred to as the
“principal Act” in this Act, is amended in subsection 2(1)—
by substituting for paragraph (b) the following paragraph:
“(b) a police officer as defined under the
Police Act 1967 [Act 344];”;

by inserting after paragraph (c) the following paragraph:
“(d) a person appointed by the Minister under section 31a;”; and
by substituting for the definition of “premises” the following definition:
‘ “premises” includes—
any installation on land, offshore installation or other installation whether on the bed of or floating on any water; and
Renumbering of section 31a
The principal Act is amended by renumbering the existing section 31a as section 31aa.
New section 31a
The principal Act is amended by inserting before section 31aa as renumbered the following section:
“ Appointment of authorized officer 31a. The Minister may appoint in writing any person to be an authorized officer subject to such terms and conditions as the Minister may impose.”.

Amendment of section 31b
Section 31b of the principal Act is amended by deleting subsection (1).
