A holder of a licence may apply for renewal of a licence before the date of expiry of such licence.

Where the holder of a licence whose date of birth falls on 29 February, the date of expiry of his licence is either—

(a)

February, if the following application for renewal of the licence is made in a year which is not a leap year; or

February, if the following application for renewal of the licence is made in a year which is a leap year, as the case may be.

Upon receipt of the application for renewal of the licence—

(a)

the date of expiry of the licence shall be in accordance with the date of birth of the holder of a licence; and

the existing licence together with proof of payment and renewal of such licence shall be sufficient evidence that the holder of a licence is the holder of a valid licence.

GOODS VEHICLES (LICENSING OF DRIVERS) (AMENDMENT) RULES 2013

  1. IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 127 of the Road Transport Act 1987 [Act 333], the Minister makes the following rules: Citation and commencement 1.

(1)

These rules may be cited as the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Drivers)

(Amendment) Rules 2013.

These Rules come into operation on 15 March 2013.

Amendment of rule 4 2.

The Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Drivers) Rules 1965 [L.N. 158/1965], which are referred to as the “principal Rules” in these Rules, are amended in rule 4—

(a)

in subrule (2), by substituting for the words “prescribed fee” the words

“payment of fee as prescribed in item 1 of Table A of the Second

Schedule”;

in subrule (4), by substituting for the words “in the Schedule” the words

“in the First Schedule”; and

Suggest a correction

(c)

by inserting after subrule (4) the following subrules:

“(5)

Where the applicant of a licence is the holder of a licence issued under the Public Service Vehicles (Licensing and Conduct of

Drivers, Conductors and Passengers) Rules 1959 [L.N. 177/1959], the fee referred to in subrule (2) shall not apply.

The applicant of a licence referred to in subrule (5) shall be subject to the fee as prescribed in item 2 of Table A of the

Second Schedule.

by renaming the existing Schedule as the “FIRST SCHEDULE”; and
