EDUCATION ACT 1996

TEACHERS (REGISTRATION) REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT) 2013

IN exercise of the powers conferred by paragraphs 130(2)(e), (f), (q), (r) and (s) of the

Education Act 1996 [Act 550], the Minister makes the following regulations:

Citation and commencement 1.

(1)

These regulations may be cited as the Teachers (Registration)

Regulations (Amendment) 2013.

(2)

These Regulations come into operation on 1 September 2013.

Deletion of regulations 8, 9 and 10 2.

The Teachers (Registration) Regulations 1957 [L.N. 237/1957], which in these

Regulations are referred to as “the principal Regulations”, are amended by deleting regulations 8, 9 and 10.

Amendment of regulation 12 3.

Regulation 12 of the principal Regulations is amended—

(a)

in the marginal note, by deleting the words “and permits”; and

(b)

in subregulation (1), by deleting the words “or permit to teach”.

Amendment of regulation 13 4.

Regulation 13 of the principal Regulations is amended—

(a)

in the marginal note, by deleting the words “or permits”;

(b)

in subregulation (1)—

(i)

by deleting the words “or to the holder of a permit to teach”;

(ii)

by deleting the words “or a replacement permit to teach”; and

(iii)

by deleting the words “or a permit to teach”;

(c)

in the first proviso—

(i)

by deleting the words “or permit to teach”;

(ii)

by deleting the words “or the permit holder”;

(iii)

by deleting the words “or replacement permit”; and

(iv)

by deleting the words “or permit”;

(d)

in the second proviso—

(i)

by deleting the words “or replacement permit to teach”; and

(ii)

by deleting the words “or permit holder”;

(e)

in subregulation (2)—

(i)

by deleting the words “or permit to teach”;

(ii)

by deleting the words “or replacement permit”; and

(iii)

by deleting the words “or permit”; and

(f)

in subregulation (3)—

(i)

by deleting the words “or replacement permit to teach”;

(ii)

by deleting the words “or permit to teach”; and

(iii)

by deleting the words “or permit”.

Amendment of regulation 14 5.

Subregulation 14 (1) of the principal Regulations is amended—

(a)

by deleting paragraph (b); and

(b)

in paragraph (c), by deleting the words “or permit to teach”.

Amendment of Schedule 6.

The Schedule of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting Form IV.
