  1. IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 28 of the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 [Act 730], the Minister makes the following order: Citation and commencement 1.

(1)

This order may be cited as the Trade Descriptions (Definition of Halal)

(Amendment) Order 2012.

This Order comes into operation on 1 March 2012.

Amendment of paragraph 2 2.

The Trade Descriptions (Definition of Halal) Order 2011 [P.U. (A) 430/2011], which is referred to as the “principal Order” in this Order, is amended by inserting before the definition of “Hukum Syarak” the following definition:

‘ “fatwa” means any religious decree which is verified by an authority related to the religion of Islam.’.

Amendment of paragraph 3 3.

Paragraph 3 of the principal Order is amended—

(a)

in subsubparagraphs (1)(a), (1)(b), (1)(c), (1)(d) and (1)(f), by inserting after the words “Hukum Syarak” the words “and fatwa”.

in subsubparagraph 1(g), by substituting for the word “paragraph” the word “subsubparagraph”.
