Kaedah-Kaedah Kenderaan Motor (Pembinaan dan Penggunaan) 1959

MOTOR VEHICLES (CONSTRUCTION AND USE) (AMENDMENT) RULES 2012

  1. IN exercise of the powers conferred by subsection 66(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 [Act 333], the Minister makes the following rules: Citation and commencement 1.

(1)

These rules may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use)

(Amendment) Rules 2012.

These Rules come into operation on 1 September 2012.

Amendment of rule 15 2.

The Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Rules 1959 [L.N. 170/1959], which is referred to as the “principal Rules” in these Rules, are amended in rule 15, by inserting after subrule 10 the following subrule:

“(11) A braking system equipped in every motor vehicle shall conform with the following specifications, as the case requires:

(a)

United Nation Economic Commission for Europe (hereinafter referred to as “UN ECE”) Regulation No. 13 Uniform Provisions

Concerning the Approval of Vehicles of Categories M, N, and O with

Regard to Braking;

UN ECE Regulation No. 13-H Uniform Provisions Concerning the

Approval of Passenger Cars with Regard to Braking; or

Suggest a correction

(c)

UN ECE Regulation No. 78 Uniform Provisions Concerning the

Approval of Vehicles of Category L with Regard to Braking.

Where brake and steering connections are secured with bolts or pins, the bolts or pins shall be threaded and effectively locked and when in any position other than horizontal, the head of the bolt or pin shall be uppermost.

Brake drum shall not be deemed to form part of the braking system.

Every replacement of service brake assembly shall conform with the following specifications, as the case requires:

(a)

Amendment of rule 30 3.

The principle Rules are amended in rule 30—

in paragraph (c), by substituting for the full stop the words “; or”;

and

(ii)

by inserting after paragraph (c), the following paragraph:

“(d) UN ECE Regulation No. 75 Uniform Provisions Concerning the Approval of Pneumatic Tyres for Motorcycles and

Mopeds”; and

by inserting after subrule (2) the following subrule:

“(3) The specification specified under FMVSS Standard No. 119 in subrule (2) shall apply to a motorcycle with cylinder capacity exceeding 250 cubic centimeters or speed rating above 180 kilometer per hour.”.
