Section 1
This Enactment may be cited as the Labuan Municipal Council (Change of Status)
Enactment, l981 and shall come into force on the 1st day of January, l
982.

An Enactment to make provisions for changes in title and other matters consequential upon the change of Status of Labuan Town Board to Labuan Municipal Council.
ENACTED by the Legislature of the State of Sabah as follows:-
Short title and commencement.
Section 2
All subsidiary legislation applicable to the area under the jurisdiction of the Labuan
Town Board shall continue to have effect in the area under the jurisdiction of the Labuan
Municipal Council as if the same had been made by the Labuan Municipal Council.
Amendment to titles.
Section 3
In every written law—
(a)
all references to “the Labuan Town Board” shall be construed as references to
“the Labuan Municipal Council”;

(b)
all references to “the Chairman of the Labuan Town Board” shall be construed as references to “the President of the Labuan Municipal Council”; and
(c)
all references to “the Chairman” in relation to the Labuan Town Board shall be construed as references to “the President”.
Succession to property.
Section 4
All property, movable or immovable, and assets vested in or belonging to the Labuan
Town Board shall on the commencement of this Enactment be transferred to and vest in the
Labuan Municipal Council.
Rights, liabilities and obligations.
Section 5
All rights, liabilities and obligations of the Labuan Town Board shall on the commencement of this Enactment become the rights, liabilities and obligations of the Labuan
Municipal Council.
Existing employees.
Section 6
All employees in the employ or in the service of the Labuan Town Board shall on the commencement of this Enactment become employees in the employ or in the service of the
Labuan Municipal Council on the same terms and conditions of service as those on which they were employed by the Labuan Town Board.
Existing agreements.
Section 7
All deeds, bonds, agreements, instruments and working arrangements subsisting immediately before the commencement of this Enactment affecting any of the undertakings, assets and liabilities vested in the Labuan Municipal Council under this Enactment, shall have a full force and effect against or in favour of the Labuan Municipal Council, and be enforceable as fully and effectively as if, instead of the Labuan Town Board, the Labuan
Municipal Council had been named therein or had been a party thereto.

Existing legal proceedings.
Section 8
All legal proceedings pending or existing by or against Labuan Town Board immediately before the commencement of this Enactment may be continued or enforced by or against the Labuan Municipal Council.
Valuation list.
Section 9
Any valuation list prepared by the Labuan Town Board in respect of the area under its jurisdiction shall continue to be in force in the area under the jurisdiction of the Labuan
Municipal Council as if the same had been prepared by the Labuan Municipal Council.
