  1. An Act to provide for the making (and taking) of statutory declarations and for purposes connected therewith and incidental thereto. [West Malaysia—1st June, 1961; East Malaysia—1st January, 1969.]

Section 2

It shall be lawful for any President of a Sessions Court, Magistrate, Commissioner for Oaths or, subject to the provisions of section 4 of the Notaries Public Ordinance, 1959, any notary public appointed under the Notaries Public Ordinance, 1959, to take and receive the declaration of any person voluntarily making the same in Malay or English in the form in the Schedule.

Declarations made by virtue of the provisions of this Act shall be deemed to be such declarations as are referred to in sections 199 and 200 of the Penal Code.

Section 4

A person making any declaration by virtue of the provisions of this Act shall pay to the officer or Commissioner taking the same such fees as the Minister may from time to time by notification in the Gazette prescribe.

Section 5

Any reference in any federal law in force in Sabah to the Statutory Declarations Ordinance of Sabah and any reference in any federal law in force in Sarawak to the Statutory Declarations Ordinance of Sarawak or to the Statutory Declarations Act, 1835, of the United Kingdom, shall be deemed to be a reference to this Act.
