(1)
Where a defendant is a person whose income is derived from sources other than earnings, the court may on the application of the person for whose maintenance the maintenance order is made or on the application of the guardian of such person make an order that any sum of money payable under the maintenance order be paid direct to the court on such day as the court may fix.
