This Act may be cited as the Food (Amendment) Act 2024.
(2)
This Act comes into operation on a date to be appointed by the Minister by notification in the Gazette.

Preamble
- An Act to amend the Food Act 1983. [ ] ENACTED by the Parliament of Malaysia as follows: Short title and commencement
Section 2
Amendment of section 2
The Food Act 1983 [Act 281], which is referred to as the “principal Act” in this Act, is amended in section 2 by deleting the definitions of “tobacco” and “tobacco product”.
Section 3
Deletion of section 36
The principal Act is amended by deleting section 36.
Section 4
Saving
(1)
Any subsidiary legislation relating to tobacco product in force immediately before the date of commencement of this
Act shall, until amended or revoked, continue to be in force and be construed as if the principal Act had not been amended by this Act.
(2)
Any registration or action made, or notice, direction or approval given or issued relating to tobacco product under section 36 of the principal Act shall, on the commencement of this Act, be dealt with under the Control of Smoking Products
For Public Health Act 2024 [Act 852].
