ELECTRICITY SUPPLY (AMENDMENT) ACT 2024

This Act comes into operation on a date to be appointed by the Minister by notification in the Gazette.

Amendment of long title

in paragraph (k), by deleting the words “efficient use of electricity,”;

in the English language text, in paragraph (ga), by substituting for the word “efficient” the word “effective”;

and

by deleting paragraph (la).

Amendment of section 11

Any Certificate of Approval in respect of the efficient use of electricity which has been issued under the principal Act and is in force immediately before the date of coming into operation of this Act shall, on the date of the coming into operation of this Act, be deemed to have been issued under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024 and shall remain valid until the

Certificate of Approval is expired or revoked by the Commission.

Electricity Supply (Amendment)

Any energy performance testing report, made in respect of the efficient use of electricity under the principal Act immediately before the date of coming into operation of this Act shall be deemed to have been validly made under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024 and remain valid for the period of five years from the date of the report or until the report is revoked by the Commission.

Any notice, order or prohibition issued by the Commission in respect of the efficient use of electricity immediately before the date of coming into operation of this Act shall, on the date of coming into operation of this Act, be discontinued.

Any action, seizure, prosecution or proceedings taken, made, commenced or pending in respect of the efficient use of electricity immediately before the date of coming into operation of this Act shall, on the date of coming into operation of this Act, be continued as if the principal Act had not been amended by this Act.

Any provision in the subsidiary legislation made under the deleted paragraphs 53(xa), (xj) and (xk) of the principal Act shall remain in operation until revoked or replaced by the subsidiary legislation made under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation

Act 2024.
