Section 4
Every bill of lading, or similar document of title, issued in
of Carriage of Goods by Sea Act 1950
Malaysia which contains or is evidence of any contract to which the
Rules apply shall contain an express statement that it is to have effect subject to the said Rules as applied by this Act.
**NOTE—The Rules referred to in this section were made by the International Conference on
Maritime Law held at Brussels in October 1922 and amended at a meeting held at Brussels in
October 1923. They were first adopted and applied in the former Federated Malay States, Johore and the Straits Settlements and subsequently extended to apply throughout the Federation.
