Preamble
- WHEREAS it is provided by Article 14(1)(b) of the Constitution of the State of Sarawak that the Dewan Undangan Negeri shall consist of such number of elected members as the Legislature may by law prescribe: AND WHEREAS pursuant to Article 14(2) of the Constitution of Sarawak and the Dewan Undangan Negeri (Composition of Membership) Ordinance, 2014 [Cap. 70], it is provided that the number of elected members of the Dewan Undangan Negeri shall be eighty-two: AND WHEREAS it is deemed desirable and necessary that the number of elected members of the Dewan Undangan Negeri be increased: NOW IT IS ENACTED by the Legislature of Sarawak as follows: Short title and commencement
Section 1
This Ordinance may be cited as the Dewan Undangan
Negeri (Composition of Membership) Ordinance, 2025, and shall come into force on such date as the Yang di-Pertua Negeri may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Upon the date of coming into force of this Ordinance, the
Dewan Undangan Negeri, Sarawak, shall consist of ninety-nine elected members.
