Section 26

(1)

Nothing in this Enactment shall be taken to prohibit the Assembly from punishing in one session or in one Assembly contempts which have been committed in the preceding session or in the last session of the previous Assembly:

Provided that in the event of the prorogation or dissolution of an Assembly, the

Assembly shall not take cognisance of any contempt committed by a member before such prorogation or dissolution unless a complaint thereof has been lodged by way of motion or reference to a committee within twenty-one days of the commencement of the next

Assembly.

Where the Assembly considers that an offender has not been punished, or not

been sufficiently punished, in one session or in one Assembly by reason of the ending of a session he may again be dealt with in the next session or, if the Assembly is dissolved in the same session in the first session of the next Assembly.
