Section 17
Reckonable service for period in Legislative Assembly, etc.
of Members of Parliament (Remuneration) Act 1980
Subject to subparagraph (2), where a person prior to being a Member was a member of the Legislative Assembly or Dewan Undangan Negeri of a
State, the period, continuously or otherwise, during which he was a member of the Legislative Assembly or Dewan Undangan Negeri may be taken into account for the purpose of calculating the length of his reckonable service.
(2)
No period under subparagraph (1) shall be taken into account for the purposes of this Schedule if a Member had been disqualified from being a member of the Legislative Assembly or Dewan Undangan Negeri or if he had been granted both his pension and gratuity for that period under any law relating to pensions and gratuities for members of the Administration of a
State and members of the Legislative Assembly or Dewan Undangan Negeri of a State.
