STATUTE XXXIII COMPUTER CENTRE

Seksyen 1

The University of Malaya Computer Centre is hereby established as an Institution of the University within the provision of section 18 of the Constitution of the University of Malaya.

Seksyen 2

In this Statute:

(a)

"University" means University of Malaya.

(b)

"Council" means the Council of the University of Malaya.

(c)

"Senate" means the Senate of the University of Malaya.

(d)

"Faculty" means a Faculty as defined in clause 1 of Statute V.

(f)

"Centre" means the Computer Centre of the University of Malaya.

(g)

"Registered user" means a person registered with the Board as an authorised user of the computer.

Seksyen 3

The objects of the Centre shall be;

(a)

to provide facilities for teaching and research in computer science and technology;

(b)

to organise courses in computer science and technology;

(c)

to provide computation services and facilities;

(d)

to act as a centre of discussion and activity for persons concerned with computers and their applications;

(e)

to perform such other functions as may be approved from time to time by the Senate.

Seksyen 4

The Head of the Centre shall be designated as Director. He shall be appointed by a. Selection Board comprising the Vice-Chancellor, two members of Council and two members of Senate. The Director shall be a member of the Senate ex-officio.

IN exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (4) of section 3 of the Weekly Holidays Ordinance, 1950, the Minister of Labour hereby adds to the Schedule to the said Ordinance the following item:

" (q) Premises used for exposing goods for sale in connection with a controlled business employing 25 or more persons."
