Pada menjalankan kuasa yang diberikan oleh subseksyen 55(1), Enakmen Pentadbiran Agama Islam (Negeri Johor) 2003 [Enakmen No. 16/2003], Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan, atas nasihat Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Johor, menubuhkan Mahkamah Rendah Syariah Daerah Kota Tinggi sebagaimana yang dinyatakan dalam Jadual bermula mulai 1 Januari 2019.
