Section 1
Citation and Commencement.
This order may be cited as Sabah Islamic Economic Development Corporation Order 2001 and shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1 June 2001.

SABAH ISLAMIC ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ORDER, 2001
(G.N.S 1 of 2001)
In the exercise of the powers conferred by section 8(1) of the Administration of Islamic Law
Enactment 1992, Yang di-Pertua Negeri hereby makes the following Order:
Section 2
Establishment of Corporation.
(1)
There is hereby established with effect from the June 2001 a corporation in the name of Sabah Islamic Economic Development Corporation.
(2)
The function of the Corporation is to assist the Majlis in carrying out the charge, conduct and management of any project, scheme or enterprise which has been planned or undertaken by the Majlis in execution of its duty or powers under section 7 of the Administration of Islamic
Law Enactment 1992.
Section 3
Seal.
The seal of the Corporation shall be as specified and approved by the Corporation.
Section 4
Composition.
The Corporation shall be composed of a Chairman, a Deputy Chairman and not more than five members who shall be appointed by the Majlis.
Section 5
Appointment.
The appointed members shall be appointed for a period of three years. A member shall be eligible for a re-appointment for a further term provided that such re-appointment shall not be longer than three years. The Majlis may, with the consent of the Minister revoke any appointment without giving any reason or an opportunity of being heard.
Section 6
Office of the Corporation.
The office of the Corporation shall be at Wisma MUIS, Jalan Sembulan, Kota Kinabalu,
Sabah in which meeting of the Corporation shall be held. The Corporation may with the approval of the Majlis change the location of the office of the Corporation and the place of meeting of the Corporation.

Section 7
Meeting.
The Corporation may hold a meeting at least once every month.
Section 8
Request for Meeting of the Corporation.
The Chairman may at any time and shall, at the request in writing of not less than one-third of the members stating the object of the meeting, call a special meeting of the Corporation and the day fixed for such meeting shall be within fourteen days of the presentation of such request.
The notice of any special meeting shall specify the object of the meeting, and no other subject than those specified in such notice shall be discussed at such meeting.
Section 9
Quorum.
The quorum at any meeting shall be five.
Section 10
Notice of Meeting.
Notice of the meeting of the Corporation shall be served on every member either personally or by leaving the same at his usual place of residence or at his business address not less than twenty-four hours before such meeting: Provided that the accidental omission to serve such notice on any member shall not affect the validity of any meeting.
Section 11
Power to Co-opt.
The Corporation may co-opt any person with professional or special qualification or expertise to be a member of the Corporation.
Section 12
Establishment of Fund.
(1)
There shall be established a fund to be known as "the Corporation Fund" which consist of all monies received by the Corporation.
(2)
There shall be paid to members or staff of the Corporation salary or allowance from the
Corporation's Fund, as approved by the Minister from time to time.
Section 13
Additional Function of the Corporation.
In addition to those functions conferred upon the Corporation by the Administration of
Muslim Law Enactment 1992 or by any other law for the time being in force, the Corporation -
(a)
shall have the duties, powers, and rights similar to the duties, powers, and rights of the
Majlis under the Administration of Islamic Law Enactment 1992;
(b)
shall have the system of management as provided for under the Administration of
Islamic Law Enactment 1992 or under any other law for the time being in force which does not conflict with Hukum Syarak;
(c)
shall be subject to the general powers of the Majlis as provided for under the
Administration of Islamic Law Enactment 1992, which includes but not limited to the submission to the Majlis, whether required or otherwise, at any time, the following:-

(i)
Annual Corporation Management Report;
(iii)
Annual Corporation Audit Report, and any other report specifically requested by the Majlis from time to time.
