These regulations may be cited as the Sabah Renewable Energy (Criteria for
Renewable Resources) Regulations 2024.

Preamble
- IN exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 63(a) of the Sabah Renewable Energy Enactment 2024, the Minister makes the following regulations: Citation and commencement
Section 2
Criteria for renewable resources
A particular resource or technology shall satisfy the criteria set out in the second column of the Schedule in order to be regarded as the renewable resource specified in the first column of the Schedule for the purposes of the Enactment.

Criteria
1. Biogas
(a)
A resource in gas form; and
(b)
Produced by the anaerobic digestion or fermentation of non-fossilized and biodegradable organic material, including manure, sewage sludge, products, by-products and residues from agricultural, industrial or municipal wastes originating from Sabah.

Criteria
2. Biomass
(a)
A resource in solid form; and
(b)
Comprises of non-fossilized and biodegradable organic material, including products and by-products and residues from agricultural, industrial or municipal wastes originating from Sabah.
3. Small hydropower
A technology that harnesses the power of flowing water to produce electrical energy.
4. Solar photovoltaic
A technology that directly converts sunlight energy into electrical energy via a photoelectric process.
5. Geothermal
(a)
A resource which is generated and stored in the underground geothermal reservoirs located in Sabah; and
(b)
Comprises of steam, water or combinations of both steam and water.
