JUDGES’ REMUNERATION (AMENDMENT OF SECOND SCHEDULE)

REGULATIONS 2006

Opening note

Preamble

IN exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Judges’ Remuneration Act 1971 [Act 45], the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, after consultation with the Chief Justice, makes the following regulations:

Seksyen 1

Citation and commencement

(1)

These regulations may be cited as the Judges’ Remuneration (Amendment of Second Schedule) Regulations 2006.

(2)

These Regulations are deemed to have come into operation on 1 August 2003.

Amendment of Second Schedule 2.

The Second Schedule to the Judges’ Remuneration Act 1971 is amended in paragraph 12A—

(a)

in subparagraph (a)—

(i)

in subsubparagraph (i), by substituting for the word “ninety”

the words “one hundred and twenty”; and

(ii)

by inserting before the subparagraph beginning with the definition of “The last drawn monthly salary” ’ the following subparagraph:

“At the last year of his service, a Judge is allowed to accumulate his vacation leave for the purpose of Payment in Lieu of Accumulated Leave from the balance of the total vacation leave to which he is entitled for that year up to a maximum which is equivalent to his rate of vacation leave:

Provided that the total vacation leave accumulated shall not exceed the maximum of one hundred and twenty days.”;

and

(b)

in subparagraph (b)—

(i)

by substituting for the word “ninety” the words “one hundred and twenty”; and

(ii)

by inserting before the subparagraph beginning with the words

“In this subparagraph,” the following subparagraph:

Provided that the total vacation leave accumulated shall not exceed the maximum of one hundred and twenty days.”.
