Section 3
(1)
The Minister shall, from time to time, by notification in the Gazette, appoint a public officer to be the Director General of Railways for the purpose of carrying out the duties and functions assigned to him under this Act.
(2)
The Director General shall hold office for such term and

subject to such conditions as the Minister may, after consultation with the Public Services Commission, determine.
(3)
The Director General shall have an official seal for the authentication of documents required for the purposes of his duties and functions under this Act.
