Section 29
(1)
When a police officer not below the rank of Inspector has reason to believe that grounds exist which would justify the holding of an inquiry into the case of any person under this Act, he or any police officer subordinate to him and acting under his orders may investigate the facts and circumstances of the case so far as they may be relevant to any proceedings in respect of that person under this Act.
(2)
In making any investigation under subsection (1), a police officer may exercise all or any of the powers in relation to police investigations in any seizable case which are given to him by the law for the time being in force relating to criminal procedure.
