Section 1

This Act may be cited as the Registration of Guests Act 1965.

This Act shall apply throughout Malaysia.

Interpretation 2.

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires—

“identity card” means an identity card issued under the National

Registration Act 1959 [Act 78], or other similar document identifying the holder thereof;

“keeper”, in respect of any specified premises, includes the proprietor and manager thereof and any person for the time being authorized to permit persons to lodge in those premises;

“lodge” includes, in relation to a room in any specified premises ordinarily used as sleeping accommodation by persons lodging thereat, the occupation of any such room by person required to be registered under paragraph 3(1)(a) (whether by day or by night)

for any period of time;

“passport” includes any similar travel document;

“registration officer” means a registration officer appointed under the National Registration Act 1959;

“specified premises” means any premises, whether furnished or unfurnished, where lodging or sleeping accommodation is provided for reward.
