Obligation of secrecy

Section 23
(1)
Except for any of the purposes of this Act or for the purposes of any civil or criminal proceedings under any written law, any officer or servant of a public sector agency, whether during or after his tenure of office or employment, shall not disclose any information obtained by him in the course of his duties.
(2)
Any person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and shall, upon conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding one million ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or to both.
