Limit of liability
of Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984
(1)
Notwithstanding any law to the contrary but subject to this
Part, the liability of an installation operator for nuclear damage under this Act shall be limited to an amount equivalent at the commencement of this Act to fifty million ringgit for any one nuclear incident.

(2)
The Board may, taking into account the size and nature of the nuclear installation, the extent of the damage involved or any other circumstances, prescribe a different limit of liability from that provided under subsection (1) but such different limit of liability shall in no event be less than an amount equivalent at the commencement of this Act to twelve million ringgit for any one nuclear incident.
(3)
The amounts referred to in subsections (1) and (2) shall not include any interest or costs awarded by the court in actions for compensation for nuclear damage.
