Section 51A

If any police officer in uniform or road transport officer in uniform or Board Officer has reasonable cause to believe that the provisions of this Act have not been complied with in respect of any motor vehicle, he may require such vehicle to be stopped and may require the driver of such vehicle to drive it to some other place, and the vehicle may, if necessary, be detained by any police officer not below the rank of sergeant or any police officer in charge of a police station for the purpose of inspection by a police officer or a road transport officer or a Board Officer to ascertain whether the provisions of this Act have been complied with.
