Departmental Titles Alteration Ordinance Cap 35 Vol Ii

To provide for changes in the titles of public officers, offices and departments.

[26TH SEPTEMBER, 1948.]

Short title.

This Ordinance may be cited as the Departmental Titles (Alteration) Ordinance.

Construction of Ordinances, etc., where terms in First Column of Schedule occur.

Wherever in any written law, minute, deed, contract, official letter or other document whatsoever any of the titles mentioned in the First Column of the Schedule hereto occurs in relation to any public officer, office or department and it is necessary to give effect to such title such document shall be read and construed as if the title mentioned opposite it in the

Second Column of the Schedule were substituted therefor.

Power to add to or amend Schedule.

The Governor may by notification in the Gazette at any time add to or amend the

Schedule to this Ordinance in respect of the title of any public officer or department of the

State.

Change of title not to be deemed abolition of office or to affect powers, etc., attached thereto.

Nothing in this Ordinance shall be deemed to involve an abolition of office or to affect the powers, duties or responsibilities attached to any office the title whereof has been changed.
