Section 31
Where a person dies in the house belonging to another or which is in the lawful occupation of another who is not a relative of the deceased person, the family or the next of kin of the deceased person commits a breach of native customary law and shall be liable -
(i)
Paragraph
(a)
pay to the owner or occupier thereof sogit of 1 head of livestock or other things of equivalent value in accordance with adat fine; or
(b)
monetary compensation not exceeding 200 ringgit; or
(ii)
in default thereof -
(a)
to a fine not exceeding 400 ringgit; or
(b)
to an imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 weeks; or
(c)
to both fine and imprisonment.
Death on farmland or field.
