Powers of Inspector or police officer in investigation
Every Inspector or police officer making an investigation under this Act shall have the power to require information, whether orally or in writing, from any person acquainted or supposed to be acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case under investigation.
(2)
Any person who, on being required by an Inspector or police officer to give information under this section, refuses to comply with such requirement or furnishes as true any information which he knows or has reason to believe to be false commits an offence.
(3)
Where any information furnished by a person to an Inspector or police officer is proved to be untrue or incorrect in whole or in part, it shall be no defence to allege that the information or any part of the information was misinterpreted, or furnished inadvertently or without criminal or fraudulent intent.
