Section 77

Notwithstanding anything contained in any other law, if any police officer pawns, sells, loses by neglect, makes away with or wilfully or negligently damages any firearms, ammunition, accoutrement, uniform or other article being property entrusted to or lawfully in the possession of the Force and supplied to him, or any property committed to his charge in the course of his duty, or any property seized or taken charge of by him in the course of his duty, he may, in addition to or in lieu of any other penalty, be ordered to make good, either wholly or partially, the value of such property or the amount of such loss or damage, as the case may be, and such value or such amount may be recovered by stoppage from his pay, including allowances, other than rent allowance and trade pay.
