Section 22

(1)
No person shall search for any antiquity or historical objects in public areas by using a detecting device unless with a permit issued by the Director:
Provided that before a permit is issued, the applicant shall:
(a)
declare that the use of the detecting device is in accordance with the best archaeological practice; and
(b)
submit a detailed statement setting out the purpose of the search.
(2)
Any person who contravenes this section shall be guilty of an offence.
(3)
For the purpose of this section, “detecting device” includes a metal detector, ground penetrating radar detecting device or any other detecting device meant for similar purposes.
