An Act to amend the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996. [ ] ENACTED by the Parliament of Malaysia as follows: Short title and commencement

Section 1

(2)

This Act comes into operation on a date to be appointed by the Minister by notification in the Gazette.

Amendment of section 47

Section 2

The Private Higher Educational Institutions Act 1996

[Act 555], which is referred to as the “principal Act” in this Act, is amended in section 47—

(a)

in the English language text, by substituting for the words “private educational institution” wherever appearing the words “private higher educational institution”; and

(b)

in subsection (2)—

(i)

in paragraph (a), by inserting after the semicolon at the end of the paragraph the word “or”;

(ii)

in paragraph (b), by substituting for the words “; or” a full stop; and

(iii)

by deleting paragraph (c).

Saving

Section 3

All disciplinary actions against any student of a private higher educational institution relating to the matter referred to in paragraph 47(2)(c) of the principal Act which are pending before the disciplinary authority immediately before the commencement of this Act shall, on the date of coming into operation of this

Act, be discontinued.
