Section 17
(1)
Where immediately before the commencement of this Act a student of an Institution was a member of any society registered under the *Societies Act 1966 [Act 335], he shall, as from the date of commencement of this Act, cease to be a member thereof unless, within fourteen days after the said date, he obtains the approval in writing of the Minister to continue to be a member thereof.
(2)
An office-bearer of any society which, after the expiry of fourteen days from the commencement of this Act, purports to have a student of an Institution as its member in contravention of subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to be punished with a fine not exceeding one thousand ringgit.
