Appointment of Inspectors, their powers, functions and duties

Section 34
(1)

The Board may appoint such number of Inspectors as it may consider necessary for the purposes of this Act from any officer and servant appointed under subsection 30(3) and such appointment shall be published in the Gazette.

(2)

Subject to subsection (3), an Inspector appointed under subsection (1) shall have all the powers, functions and duties conferred under this Act.

(3)

An Inspector shall be subject to the direction and control of the chief executive officer, or of such other officer or servant of the Board as may be authorized by the chief executive officer to act on behalf of him, and of any other Inspectors superior to him in rank, and shall exercise his powers, perform his functions, and discharge his duties referred to in subsection (2) in compliance with such directions, instructions, conditions, restrictions or limitations as the chief executive officer, or an officer or servant of the Board authorized to act on behalf of him, or an

Inspector superior in rank, may specify orally or in writing, either generally, or in any particular case or circumstances.

(4)

The chief executive officer shall have all the powers of an

Inspector.

(5)

The Board may, in writing, vests in any officer of the Board who is not appointed as an Inspector under subsection (1) all or any of the powers, functions and duties of an Inspector.
