Section 20

If at any time it is shown to the satisfaction of the Chief Inspector that a mine is in such condition as to render mining dangerous to the safety or health or persons employed in or about such mine, the Chief Inspector may order either that such mine shall be closed, and a notice to that effect be published in the Gazette, or that such work be executed as will enable mining to be carried out with due regard to the safety or health of persons in or about such mine.

Any person who fails to comply with any order made under this section shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable to a fine of ten thousand dollars and imprisonment for one year and in addition shall be liable to a further fine of two thousand dollars for every day during which the default continues.
