9. Temporary exercise of functions of the Chairman

The Minister may appoint temporarily any member of the

“Minister” means the Minister charged with the responsibility for sports;
Institute, other than the Chief Executive Officer, to act as the
Institute
“Institute” means the National Sports Institute established under section 3;
Chairman for the period when—

“Chairman” means the Chairman of the Institute appointed under paragraph 7(1)(a); National Sports Institute 9
the office of the Chairman is vacant;
the Chairman is absent from duty or absent from
Malaysia; or
the Chairman is, for any other reason, unable to perform the duties of his office.
A member appointed under subsection (1) shall, during the period in which he is performing the functions of the Chairman under this section, be deemed to be the Chairman.
