Section 57
Power of arrest and search

A member of a security force or any other officer duly authorized by the General Manager (in this Part referred to as “an authorized officer”) may arrest without warrant any person whom he reasonably suspects of having committed an offence under this
Ordinance or regulations or bylaws made thereunder if—
(a)
he has reasons to believe that the person is about to abscond;
(b)
the person suspected of committing an offence, refuses to give his identity or address; or

(c)
that person has given an identity or address which he has reasons to believe to be false.
(2)
A member of a security force or an authorized officer may search or cause to be searched, any person arrested pursuant to this section:
Provided that no female shall be searched except by a female.
(3)
Where a person is arrested pursuant to subsection (1), he shall, as soon as reasonably and conveniently possible, be brought to the nearest police station.
