Section 6

Appointment of special bank holidays

The Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri may, by Order, appoint a specified day to be observed as a bank holiday, either throughout Sarawak or in any locality thereof, and any day so appointed shall be kept as a holiday in all banks within the locality mentioned in such Order.

FIRST SCHEDULE

(Sections 3 and 5)

The first day of January.

Chinese New Year and the following day.

Good Friday. [Swk. L.N. 105/66].

Wesak Day. [Swk. L.N. 3/80].

Malaysia Day. [Swk. L.N. 3/2010].

The Birthday of Prophet Mohammad. [G.N.S. 239/63].

The Birthday of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. [G.N.S.239/63].

Hari Raya Puasa and the following day.

Hari Raya Haji.

Awal Muharram. [Swk. L.N. 78/77].

Christmas day. [Swk. L.N. 78/77].

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

Dayak Festival Day (the first day of June) and the following day. [Swk. L.N.

105/66 and Swk. L.N. 63/69].

31st August—National Day. [G.N.S. 239/63; Swk. L.N. 54/74; Swk. L.N.

3/2010].

The first day of May—Worker’s Celebration Day. [Swk. L.N. 17/73 and 54/74].

If any of these days (above) falls on a Sunday the following

Monday shall be a Public Holiday unless otherwise ordered by the

Yang di-Pertua Negeri by notification in the Gazette.

Birthday of Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak (the second
