Cargo Measuring and Weighing
of Sabah Ports Authority Scale Dues And Charges Regulations 1977
(1)
The Authority reserves the right to measure or weigh the cargo where it deems necessary to check the accuracy of the manifested weight and/or measurement specified in the manifest. If the manifested weight and/or measurement is found to be short declared the following charges shall be payable by the port users concerned:
(a)
Measurement of the cargo per tonne of one cubic metre or part thereof … …
(b)
Weighing of the cargo per tonne of 1,000 kilograms or part thereof … …
(c)
Minim um charge for (a) and (b) above … …

Where a consignment has been weighed or the weight thereof has been assessed and the consignor or consignee wishes to verify the weight so arrived at, the Authority shall, whenever possible, weigh' or re-weigh the consignment, and where such weighing or re-weighing reveals no difference in weight greater than one per cent of the total gross weight of the consignment, shall charge for the weighing or re-weighing service so rendered at the rate of 50% of the charges detailed at sub-item (1) (a) and (c) above.

The charges specified at sub-item (1)(a), (b) and (c) shall apply where the measuring or weighing is carried out at the request of the vessel, consignee, shipper or owner of goods and payable by the party making the request. In the case of weighing under this sub-item the weight shall be the weight of the vehicle and the cargo carried by the vehicle, if any.

On Prescribed Holidays the charges detailed at sub-items (1) to (3) above shall be increased by 100%.
(5)
The charges for the use of the Authority’s weighbridge shall be RM5.00 per weighing.
