Section 23

A widow’s pension shall cease on her death or remarriage or on her becoming a bankrupt. When a widow’s pension ceases in her lifetime, she shall for the purposes of this Act be deemed to have died at the time of such cesser:

Provided always that if a widow’s pension ceases in her lifetime by reason of her bankruptcy the Chief Secretary to the

life, or during such shorter period or periods either continuous or otherwise as he shall think fit, direct the payment of all or any part of so much (if any) of the said pension as is not for the time being payable to any child or children of such widow or of any husband of hers under this Act to, or apply the same for the maintenance and personal support or benefit of, such widow in such manner as he shall from time to time think proper.

Dissolution of marriage 23a.  Where the marriage of any contributor has been annulled or dissolved by the decree of any competent Court, the wife, party to such marriage, shall for all purposes of this Act be deemed to have died, and the contributor to have become a widower, at the date of such decree.
