Prevention of further occurrence of disabilities
of Persons with Disabilities Act 2008
The Government and the private healthcare service provider shall make available essential health services to persons with disabilities which shall include the following:
(a)
prevention of further occurrence of disabilities, immunization, nutrition, environmental protection and preservation and genetic counselling; and
(b)
early detection of disabilities and timely intervention to arrest disabilities and treatment for rehabilitation.
(2)
In taking measures to prevent further occurrence of disabilities, the Government shall—
(a)
undertake or cause to be undertaken surveys, investigations and research concerning the cause of occurrence of such disabilities; and
(b)
sponsor or cause to be sponsored awareness campaigns and disseminate or cause to be disseminated information on causes of disabilities and the preventive measures to be adopted and on general hygiene, health and sanitation.
