Section 63
Every person subject to service law under this Act who—
(a)
loses or by negligence damages any public or service property of which he has the charge or which has been entrusted to his care or which forms part of the property of which he has the charge or which has been entrusted to his care;
(b)
by negligence causes damage by fire to any public or service property;

(c)
loses, or by negligence damages, any clothing, arms, ammunition or other equipment issued to him for his use for service purposes;
(d)
fails to take proper care of any animal or bird used in the public service which is in his charge; or
(e)
makes away with or disposes of (whether by pawning, selling, destroying or in any other way) any service decoration granted to him or any clothing, arms, ammunition or other equipment issued to him for his use for service purposes, shall, on conviction by court-martial, be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or any less punishment provided by this
Act:
Provided that it shall be a defence for any person charged under this section with losing any property, clothing, arms, ammunition or other equipment that he took reasonable steps for the care and preservation thereof.
