Section 6

of Bintulu Development Authority Ordinance, 1978 ( Ord. No. 1/78 )

Section 6

The functions of the Authority shall be to plan and undertake the development of any area declared to be a designated area under section 8 and it shall be the duty of the Authority within that area⎯

(a)

to promote, stimulate, facilitate and undertake economic and social development;

(b)

to promote and coordinate further industrial and tertiary development;

(c)

to promote, develop and manage residential and industrial estates and sites whether or not the undertaking in question is carried on on land subleased from the Authority;

(d)

to promote, assist and develop trade, commerce and industry;

(e)

to develop and turn into account any immovable property acquired by or vested in the Authority or in which the

Authority is interested;

(f)

to promote the increased productivity of industry and to encourage the more efficient utilization of natural resources;

(g)

to provide facilities and amenities for the advancement and well being of persons living and working within the designated area;

(h)

to make such recommendations to the Chief Minister as the Authority sees fit in relation to any measures which it considers would achieve an increase in trade and development;

and

(i)

to undertake such other functions as the Chief Minister may from time to time direct.
