Measures relating to a maritime casualty

Section 13
(1)
The Government may specify measures in relation to the exclusive economic zone which are necessary to protect Malaysia’s coastline or any segment or element of the environment or related interests, including fishing, from pollution or threat of pollution following upon a maritime casualty or acts relating to such casualty, which may reasonably be expected to result in major harmful consequences.

(2)
The measures referred to in subsection (1) shall be proportionate to the actual or threatened damage to the coastline or segment or element of the environment or related interests, including fishing.
